Wayne Brown, president and CEO of Michigan Opera Theatre was the emcee.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We recognized the five orchestra musicians receiving the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/ford-musician-awards\/\">Ford Musician Awards for Excellence in Community Service<\/a><\/strong>, and honored the careers of Heather Noonan, the League&#8217;s Vice President for Advocacy, and Chester Lane, former senior editor of&nbsp;<em>Symphony&nbsp;<\/em>magazine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following our Annual Meeting, during which we celebrated League Board Chair Patricia Richards&#8217; strong leadership and introduced our members to incoming Board Chair Douglas M. We learned how audience research informed their bold ideas as part of the Wallace Foundation\u2019s Building Audiences for the Arts initiatives. The firm\u2019s president presented findings from the most recent survey, explaining trends and highlighting opportunities. Afa Dworkin, president and artistic director of the Sphinx Organization, provided an overview of the organization\u2019s work, tracing its triumphs, aspirations, and goals over the 20 years since its founding. Sphinx is national organization dedicated to transforming lives through the power of diversity in the arts.
