Anna Edwards\u2019 Composer Database<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A growing list of great composers, with the mission of encouraging  diversity on the concert stage and providing easy access to information for music directors and artistic administrators. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

BIPOC Voices: Works for Voice and Orchestra<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

BIPOC Voices is a resource to help program works for solo voice(s) and instruments by composers who are Black, Indigenous, or People of Color.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canadian Orchestra Repertoire Reports and Programming Tool<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

These reports detail how Canada\u2019s orchestras have programmed the works of women, non-binary, and BIPOC composers, what the trends are, and how those trends are changing. The Programming tool is a spreadsheet filterable by instrumentation and composer identity containing all of the works by BIPOC and woman composers found in the research phase of the current report.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Center for Black Music Research<\/a> <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A free collection highlighting the role of Black music in world culture with materials originating or representing Black music in the United States, Africa, Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean in a variety of formats: personal papers, scores, sheet music, audio-visual materials, photographs, books, periodicals, and commercial recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Composer\u2019s Equity Project<\/a> <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This list from 2018 includes the names and websites of composers identifying as women, gender non-conforming, and ALAANA (African\/Black, Latinx, Asian\/South Asian, Arab\/Middle Eastern, and Native American).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Indigenous Directory for Musical Storytelling<\/a> <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

A free, searchable resource designed to highlight Native American arts professionals, including composers and musical performing artists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latin Orchestral Music<\/a><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

This online, subscription-based catalog contains over 9,000 original orchestral works by over 1,600 composers from 24 countries and territories of Latin America and the Caribbean. The database offers a free trial for 30 days, and then a modest annual fee for continued access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MOLA: Educational Resources for Music Performance\/Ensemble Librarianship<\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Public Resources; Resources of Underrepresented Composers; Beginner Resources; Copyright Resources; Librarians on Performance Librarianship<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music by Black Composers, a Project of the Rachel Barton Pine Foundation<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Its mission is to inspire Black students to begin and continue instrumental training, make the music of Black composers available to everyone, and help to change the face of classical music through greater diversity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Music Restored Composer List<\/strong><\/a><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Music Restored website offers a comprehensive English-language online resource on music suppressed by Nazi policies from 1933 to 1945. The site serves performers and organizations seeking information and guidance in the preparation of programs and raises awareness in the academic community of the role of these composers in the history of twentieth-century music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orchestra Diversity Database<\/a>  <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The Institute for Composer Diversity, in partnership with the League of American Orchestras, has been collecting and analyzing American professional orchestral performance repertoire for our Orchestral Repertoire Reports since 2022. In 2024, the announced the creation of a new search resource to allow the public to search through the collected data. Users can search by composer, title, duration, performing orchestra, and whether or not the work features soloists covering performance repertoire from the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 seasons for over 200 American orchestras, totaling 15,000+ programmed works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
