Learn what this means for the online learning environment, and how your orchestra can grow its commitment to nurture holistic youth development through the rigorous study of music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-0\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\" aria-controls=\"ac-0\">About the Speakers<\/h2><div id=\"ac-0\" class=\"c-accordion__content\" style=\"display:none\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/MarinAlsop.jpg\" alt=\"Marin Alsop\" class=\"wp-image-23718\" width=\"207\" height=\"259\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Marin Alsop<\/strong><br><em>Founder, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra\u2019s OrchKids<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Marin Alsop is an inspiring and powerful voice, a conductor of vision and distinction who passionately believes that \u201cmusic has the power to change lives.\u201d She is recognised internationally for her innovative approach to programming and audience development, for her deep commitment to education, and for advocating for music\u2019s importance in the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maestra Alsop is Chief Conductor of the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (Vienna RSO), performing in their main series at the Wiener Konzerthaus and Wiener Musikverein, recording, broadcasting, and touring nationally and internationally. Her first season coincided with the Orchestra\u2019s 50th anniversary and emphasized women in classical music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her outstanding success as Music Director of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) since 2007 has resulted in two extensions in her tenure until 2021. Maestra Alsop has led the orchestra on its first European tour in 13 years and created several bold initiatives including OrchKids, for the city\u2019s most disadvantaged young people. At the end of 2019, following a seven-year tenure as Music Director, she became Conductor of Honour of the S\u00e3o Paulo Symphony Orchestra (OSESP), where she will return to conduct major projects each season. A member of the National Honor Society and a high school volunteer for the Twigs program, she has been in the OrchKids Program for eleven years. She has also attended the Peabody Tuned in Program on Saturdays for nine years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/RodrigoGuerrero.jpg\" alt=\"Rodrigo Guerrero\" class=\"wp-image-23721\" width=\"214\" height=\"214\" srcset=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/RodrigoGuerrero.jpg 300w, https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/RodrigoGuerrero-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 214px) 100vw, 214px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Rodrigo Guerrero<\/strong><br><em>Former Manager of Creative Youth Development, Massachusetts Council for the Arts, Former Head of International Relations, FESNOJIV<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For 20 years, Rodrigo Guerrero has been trotting the globe in the name of Social Action Through the Arts and Creative Youth Development. Serving in all manner of administrative and advocacy roles in his native Venezuela, he was an integral piece of the international musical and educational phenomenon El Sistema, where he closely worked creating partnerships and cooperation opportunities with arts organisations in 5 continents, connecting government efforts and grass roots movements in countless countries to the philosophy of el Sistema\u2019s founder, Maestro Jose Antonio Abreu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After relocating to the US, he served as Creative Youth Development Program Manager for the Massachusetts Cultural Council, working closely with over 90 programs across the state, providing technical assistance and direct consultation services to strengthen the growing field of practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, Rodrigo works as a freelance grant writer and arts administration consultant, working with organisations and funders in the United States and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/MateenMilan.jpg\" alt=\"Mateen Milan\" class=\"wp-image-23722\" width=\"217\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/MateenMilan.jpg 300w, https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/MateenMilan-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 217px) 100vw, 217px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mateen Milan<\/strong><br><em>Baltimore Symphony Orchestra\u2019s OrchKids<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Baltimore native Mateen Milan is a performer, teacher and advocate of music that uses the bassoon as a tool for impactful, thoughtful and inspiring musical experiences. Mateen serves as an orchestral, chamber and solo musician throughout Maryland and beyond while also being an avid teacher for institutions such as the Peabody Preparatory, Baltimore School for the Arts and the Baltimore Symphony Orchkids Program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mateen\u2019s diverse ensemble experiences have lead him to perform with the Hunt Valley Symphony, Occasional Symphony, Symphony Number One, Astronaut Symphony and other freelance ensembles such as the Johns Hopkins Orchestra, Northern Neck Symphony and the Baltimore Symphonic Band, all while pursuing his Bachelor&#8217;s degree at the Peabody Conservatory and Masters degree at the Yale School of Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Trahey.jpg\" alt=\"Daniel Trahey\" class=\"wp-image-23723\" width=\"223\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Trahey.jpg 300w, https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Trahey-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 223px) 100vw, 223px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Daniel Trahey<\/strong><br><em>Founder, The Collective Conservatory<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dan Trahey is a musician, composer, educator, social entrepreneur and architect for socially conscious, artistically progressive, and genre bending music programs in the United States, South America, and Europe. He is highly sought after as an architect, designer, and implementer of programs that use music as a vehicle for social change, and which use creative youth voice and community voice as their foundations. Mr. Trahey has helped start programs for tens of thousands of students across the United States, including California, Oregon, Illinois, Michigan, Texas, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, North Carolina, and Virginia. He also founded two programs in Baltimore \u2013 Baltimore Symphony Orchestra\u2019s OrchKids and Tuned In at the Peabody Conservatory. Mr. Trahey is regularly invited to work with organizations across the globe to provide meaningful musical experiences for their students and staff. Last year he worked with Global Leaders Program (Chile), Music for Peace (Turkey), and the European Youth Orchestra.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><em>This session was made possible by generous grant from The Andrew W.
