Join us in speaking up to protect our nation\u2019s investment in arts and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Congress is starting&nbsp;the funding process&nbsp;for Fiscal Year 2026 while new&nbsp;FY26 grantmaking procedures unfold. The U.S. District Court for Rhode Island has denied a motion to block NEA implementation of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whitehouse.gov\/presidential-actions\/2025\/01\/defending-women-from-gender-ideology-extremism-and-restoring-biological-truth-to-the-federal-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>executive order on \u201cgender ideology.&#8221;<\/strong><\/a> The court noted that&nbsp;the NEA has already suspended implementation of the executive order and the agency plans to consider if and how it may take further action on the order after April 30, 2025. As reported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aclu.org\/press-releases\/court-denies-preliminary-relief-to-arts-organizations\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>American Civil Liberties Union<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> the court\u2019s review of the case suggests that reimposing the eligibility restrictions would be unlawful. With an April 7 FY26 application deadline nearing, grant applicants remain uncertain of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arts.gov\/grants\/legal-requirements-and-assurance-of-compliance#assurance\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>compliance requirements<\/strong><\/a><strong> <\/strong>that will apply to future NEA funding. The League is tracking all available information on our <a href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/learn\/development-fundraising\/nea-funding\/nea-funding-opportunities\/tips-for-your-nea-grant-application\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>National Endowment for the Arts Grant Application Resource page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACTION: <\/strong>Advocates are continuing to <a href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/learn\/advocate\/contact-congress-today\/?vvsrc=%2Fcampaigns%2F44585%2Frespond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>speak up to Congress<\/strong><\/a> to support access to the unique federal investment in&nbsp;NEA grants, research, and national initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>On April 2, state humanities agencies and individual grantees were notified of the termination of NEH grant agreements, following a Department of Government Efficiency directive to reduce agency staff by 70%. Advocates are speaking up to Congress to oppose dismantling the NEH, which has received funding and bipartisan support from Congress to carry out its mission and provides substantial support to music scholarship, research, and archives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ACTION: <\/strong>Access the tools from our partners at <a href=\"https:\/\/p2a.co\/DdtlGIT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>the National Humanities Alliance\u2019s e-advocacy campaign<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS)<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Just weeks after an <a href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/federal-budget-new-and-renewed-targets-in-executive-orders-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>executive order called for the IMLS to be eliminated,<\/strong><\/a> staff at the agency have been placed on administrative leave and grant administration has halted, despite a clear mandate from Congress in support of&nbsp;the agency and its investment in communities nationwide.
