and Coordinator of Teaching Artistry, University of South Carolina School of Music<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Named the Yale School of Music 2019 Distinguished Teaching Artist of the Year, American oboist Hassan Anderson is a soloist, chamber musician, conductor, and teacher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Noted for his clarity of tone, range of colors, and energetic stage presence, Mr. Anderson was the oboist of the acclaimed, innovative New York-based chamber music ensemble SHUFFLE Concert (Ensemble M\u00e9lange), a position he held from 2011-2018. With the ensemble, Mr. Anderson toured Israel three times and performed on series throughout the US and Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Equally adept in the classical and jazz genres and dedicated to the next generation of musicians, Mr. Anderson regularly schedules teaching opportunities around his performances. He has been a teaching artist for Carnegie Hall (Weill Music Institute), The Little Orchestra Society in New York City, and Jazz House Kids, the only community arts organization in New Jersey exclusively dedicated to educating children through jazz. In recent seasons, Sterrett has made solo appearances at Carnegie Hall and several International Horn Symposia, and has presented recitals and masterclasses around the United States. She has performed as guest principal horn with the London, San Francisco, and Detroit symphony orchestras and The Philadelphia Orchestra, and was a member of the 2022 National Brass Ensemble. An advocate for works by women composers, she can be heard on the world-premiere recording of Fernande Breihl-Decruck\u2019s Po\u00ebme H\u00e9ro\u00efque for trumpet, horn, and orchestra.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sterrett grew up in a musically enthusiastic and supportive family in Michigan, and attended Interlochen Arts Academy. She received her bachelor\u2019s degree from the University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison and a master\u2019s degree from the Yale School of Music. Her primary teachers include William Purvis, Douglas Hill, and Julie Schleif. She is a past prizewinner in the International Horn Competition of America and the Yamaha Young Performing Artists Program.&nbsp;Among her proudest accomplishments is completing the New York City
