She believed youth orchestras could be engines of transformation\u2014not only for students, but for their entire communities. Known for her energy, determination, and grassroots leadership, Betty worked behind the scenes to launch, sustain, and champion youth orchestras nationwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To honor Betty\u2019s legacy in this 50th anniversary year, the League invites youth orchestras to celebrate their own \u201cBetty Utter\u201d \u2014 a local changemaker who has made an extraordinary impact on their community. This person could be a:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Stellar parent volunteer<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Dedicated board member<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspirational local teacher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Or another unsung hero who has gone above and beyond to advance youth orchestras<a id=\"_msocom_1\"><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-layout-flex wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link has-coral-background-color has-background wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/airtable.com\/appiNwlrUhGicvnV4\/shr0hWwZ7xnLQQjm6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Submit your honoree<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-455850\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">How it Works<\/h2><div id=\"ac-455850\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Each youth orchestra identifies and celebrates their community\u2019s \u201cBetty Utter\u201d at their final concert of the 2025\u201326 season. Orchestras submit their honoree\u2019s name, photo, short bio, and description of impact <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/airtable.com\/appiNwlrUhGicvnV4\/shr0hWwZ7xnLQQjm6\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">via an online form<\/a><\/strong>. This award may be given posthumously.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The League will provide an award certificate template that orchestras can personalize and present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating youth orchestras must be member orchestras of the League of American Orchestras.
