House Appropriations Chair Tom Cole (R-OK) emphasized the role of Congress in\u00a0determining\u00a0federal funding: \u201cThese bills are the product of bipartisan, bicameral consensus and are grounded in a member-driven process.\u201d<br><br>New grantmaking is already underway.\u00a0Now-confirmed NEA Chair Mary Anne Carter\u00a0announced a\u00a0round of\u00a0projects related to the National Garden of American Heroes, as well as the first\u00a0grant\u00a0awards for FY26.\u00a0Orchestras in communities throughout the U.S. will receive first round FY26 Grants for Arts Projects (GAP1) support from the NEA\u00a0to present a variety of projects\u2014many honoring the 250th anniversary of the United States. These include free outdoor concerts, commissions and premieres of new works, and music education training for youth.\u00a0Additional\u00a0GAP1\u00a0grants for FY2026 will be added to the NEA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/grantsearch.nea.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Grant Search<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0database as they\u00a0are considered and\u00a0awarded\u00a0in the coming months, followed by action on GAP2 applications. USCIS announced fee increases for premium processing service (PPS),\u00a0<strong>effective March 1, 2026, raising the cost\u00a0to\u00a0expedite\u00a0O and P\u00a0arts-related petitions from\u00a0$2,805 to $2,965<\/strong>.\u00a0Average regular processing times are taking 8 to 9 months, leaving many no choice but to pay the\u00a0additional\u00a0cost, as those seeking visa approvals also navigate changes to the <a href=\"https:\/\/artistsfromabroad.org\/site\/news\/changes-uscis-fee-payment-options-09022025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>fee payment method<\/strong><\/a> and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artistsfromabroad.org\/site\/news\/effective-immediately-new-filing-addresses-all-o-and-p-petitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>filing address locations<\/strong><\/a>.<br><br>The League\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/artistsfromabroad.org\/site\/news\/pps-increasing-beginning-march-1-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>dedicated\u00a0<em>Artists from Abroad<\/em>\u00a0news\u00a0alerts<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0provide real-time updates\u00a0on the deluge of policy changes.
