The deal adds funding to the existing&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/learn\/covid-19\/federal-assistance\/paycheck-protection-program-and-loan-forgiveness\/\">Paycheck Protection Program<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;administered by local lenders and the&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/learn\/covid-19\/federal-assistance\/sba-economic-injury-disaster-relief-and-loan-advance\/\">Economic Injury Disaster Relief<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;program administered by the Small Business Administration, and provides additional resources for COVID-19 testing and hospitals. Congress is expected to take up a separate package of new and expanded COVID-19 relief measures in the weeks to come, and&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.americanorchestras.org\/advocacy-government\/be-heard\/contact-congress-today.html\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>ongoing advocacy<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;will be essential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a quick overview of the Paycheck Protection and Health Care Enhancement Act:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Paycheck Protection Program:<\/strong><br>$310 billion in new funding (with $60 billion of that amount set aside to be administered by smaller lending institutions like credit unions&nbsp;and community financial institutions).<br>&nbsp;<\/li><li><strong>SBA Economic Injury Disaster Relief<\/strong>:<br>$50 billion in new funding for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program<br>$10 billion in new funding for the EIDL Grants<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In the interest of speedy passage of this bill, negotiators chose not to make substantial changes to the eligibility for the relief programs, which means&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/americanorchestras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/community-letter-nonprofit-track-reforms-to-cares-act.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>requests by nonprofit advocates<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;(PDF) for a dedicated pool of resources and for Congress to lift the 500-employee cap are not included in this measure.
